Chocolate Granola Recipe

I’ve just got back from the gym after my first ever BBG workout and am currently spooning chocolate granola into my mouth (literally by the ladle-ful) just to, you know, remind myself of the flavour so I can give you guys an accurate analysis. The verdict? Y’all need it.

2 cups rolled oats

1/2 cup chopped nuts and/or seeds – I used hazelnuts, sunflower seeds and pumpkin seeds

1/2 cup dried fruit (optional)

1/2 cup vegan chocolate chips (optional)

2 heaped tbsp coconut oil

2 heaped tbsp peanut butter

2 tbsp agave or maple syrup

2 tbsp cacao or cocoa powder

  1. Pre-heat the oven to 150 celcius
  2. Place the coconut oil, peanut butter, syrup and cacao powder in a saucepan and heat gently until combined
  3. Add oats and seeds/nuts and mix with a wooden spoon until well combined (i.e. until all the oats look kind of wet and gooey)
  4. Pour granola mix onto a baking tray and spread into an even layer using the back of a spoon
  5. Bake for 20-25 minutes
  6. Remove from the oven and use a spoon to flip the granola (you don’t have to be too accurate about this bit, just give it all a good mix)
  7. Add dried fruit (if including) and return to the oven for another 10-15 minutes
  8. Remove from the oven and leave to cool
  9. Once cooled add vegan chocolate chips and store in an air-tight container before sprinkling it liberally over your breakfast
