Super Pink (Pitaya-Free) Smoothie Bowl

Hi team!

I promised you the recipe for this fluorescent pink smoothie I whipped up the other day, so here it is!

I’m always super envious of all the shocking pink smoothies I see on Instagram, and I’m always disheartened when I see their key ingredient is Pitaya. Pitaya, or Dragon Fruit, is super beautiful and it is rich in antioxidants; it also makes everything go that wonderful pink colour that I’ve been lusting over for too long. But I just can’t get hold of it easily in the UK. I’ve never seen it in a UK supermarket (if you have, holla at me because I am coming for it!) and I’ve thought about ordering pitaya powder online but I can’t quite justify the cost (plus, the real thing has got to be better than a powder right?). Anyway, for these reasons, I’ve never even tried pitaya #sosad #firstworldproblems. So, I wanted to create something that would look just as magical but without all the hassle of hunting down this elusive fruit; and I think I’ve found the answer.


Super Pink (Pitaya-Free) Smoothie Bowl


Ingredients (Serves 2)

4 large ripe bananas

1/2 cup frozen blackberries

1/2 cup frozen raspberries

1 large cooked beetroot

1 cup plant milk

1 scoop vegan protein

1 tbsp. chia seeds

1 tbsp. Bioglan ‘Supergreens’ powder (mixed berry flavour)

2 medjool dates, pitted



  1. Add all the ingredients to blender and blitz until smooth
  2. Top with smooth peanut butter, soy yoghurt and fresh fruit
  3. Slurrrrrp
